The main points of comparison deal with the vision of the conqueror, the construction of the indigineous American (from the perspectives of lascasismo and antilascasismo in La Araucana and los Comentarios); and lastly, the similarity of humanist ideals which are at the cultural base of both authors.</dc:description>

<mods:abstract>Decades before Gilberto Triviños defined La Araucana as a tragedy rather than an epic, José Durand had launched his vision of the complete works of Inca Garcilaso from La Florida as an epic, los Comentarios reales as a utopia and the Historia general del Perú as a tragedy. Thus the starting point for this article is the differences and similarities in the evolution of Ercilla and the Inca, which on the one hand allows for the analysis of these works in the ideological context of the Spanish Golden Age, and on the other allows for the interpretation of these works within the development of hispanoamerican colonialism. The main points of comparison deal with the vision of the conqueror, the construction of the indigineous American (from the perspectives of lascasismo and antilascasismo in La Araucana and los Comentarios); and lastly, the similarity of humanist ideals which are at the cultural base of both authors.</mods:abstract>

<field name="value">Decades before Gilberto Triviños defined La Araucana as a tragedy rather than an epic, José Durand had launched his vision of the complete works of Inca Garcilaso from La Florida as an epic, los Comentarios reales as a utopia and the Historia general del Perú as a tragedy. The main points of comparison deal with the vision of the conqueror, the construction of the indigineous American (from the perspectives of lascasismo and antilascasismo in La Araucana and los Comentarios); and lastly, the similarity of humanist ideals which are at the cultural base of both authors.</field>
